Just a Phase January 4, 2007

I simply can’t think how to begin and where to end this post whenever i think of this song by Incubus. I guess i can’t do anything beyond this when it comes to “Just a Phase”.
I keep wondering how this Alt-Metal Rock Quartet would be feeling after composing this master-piece. They have managed to strike the right chord of everyone’s heart. This is what everyone will feel at some point of time in their lives.
The band’s raw talent remains stupendous. Brandon Boyd has a gift for bending howls & croons together into long, high-pitched notes that can be ominous or soothing according to the context and utterly seductive either way. Guitarist Mike likewise can alter the mood and texture of the tune with virtuoso efficiency. The grand climax is the proof for his musical ingenuity.
This stylistic labyrinth has swiveled my thots into a melancholic dizziness which is really enjoyable though. Still…. Just a Phase remains inconspicuous among many music lovers and this composition was never publicized!!
Do watch their Morning View Sessions Version of this song because thats the utmost thing i can do before i again start listening to this song and reach the nadirs of my thoughts.
Lyrics:
Just A Phase
I am bottled, fizzy water and you are shaking me up
You are a fingernail running down the chalkboard I thought I left in third grade
Now my only consolation is that this could not last forever
Even though you’re singing and thinking how well you’ve got it made
Who are you? When will you be through?
Yea it’s just a phase…it will be over soon
Yea it’s just a phase
Call it women’s intuition
But I think I’m onto something here
Temporaryism has been the black plague and the Jesus of our age
I know I must sound opinionated
Maybe biased and quite possibly jaded
But sooner than later they’ll be throwing quarters at you on stage
Who are you? When will you be through?
Yea it’s just a phase…it will be over soon
Yea it’s just a phase
And I’m waiting for it to be over too
